According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, per the insider, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her private aide.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the president to deny the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
