Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
