Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the international break, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

My son advised me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have have plenty of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
