The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in California aged 55.

The tragic news was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that he helped create.

The influential game designer passed away following his automobile collided and caught fire on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
